Brave TV advertising

Left: When our school became a 1-to-1 digital campus, another editor and I created this video to help market our online news source and emphasize how the new technology provided access for all students. We felt that because boonepubs.com was still developing, our presence could be stronger, considering every student had access to a laptop. The emphasis in this commercial is on that boonepubs.com is accessible for all students (January 2017).
Right: Having a presence on campus is important; a newspaper has to be known to be relevant. I created this video to draw readers to our website. The intention was to remind students that we are the voice of the whole campus, not just select organizations, and that no matter one's interests, there would be something of value to them. (January 2018).

Multimedia Branding
When Boone Pubs started publishing more multimedia news packages and sound slides last year, we wanted a consistent brand for our coverage. We wanted to converge our Boone Pubs logo and our web font, Bebas Neue. This is the opening slide to any multimedia package on our YouTube channel. The uniformity helps create brand recognition.
Logo Design: Outside of Boone Pubs
In addition to my journalism branding and entrepreneurship experience, I have designed logos for various organizations.
Forgotten Fundamentals: My friend Bridget Hartig began Forgotten Fundamentals, a non-profit to provide feminine hygiene products to women in homeless shelters. The logo has two F's, of different shades of pink, to highlight that this organization helps any woman of any race or background.
Florida Law Honor Society: I also created the logo for Boone's chapter of Florida Law Honor Society. We wanted something sleek and classy, something representative of a law firm logo. I used Adobe Illustrator to type on the path and create the vector in the middle.
Photography Business: Finally, I created a logo for my photography business, @jrummler.photo. I wanted the artsy look of a brush stroke, but something simple enough to recognize on any picture.
All of these logos are used consistently on anything representative of the organization which allows for visual consistency and branding.
Because of my wealth of knowledge on Adobe software, fellow students utilize my strengths for their design needs. I am Adobe Photoshop CC and InDesign CC certified, and have extensive knowledge of the functions of both programs, as well as Adobe Illustrator and Final Cut.
Knowing my design skills, the Student Government Association asked me to design two shirts this past year. My peers recognize that my design skills from newspaper are transferable to other elements and organizations on campus.

SOCIAL MEDIA
Twitter is Boone Pubs' best-known social media platform. As Boone Pubs works to increase its social media presence, it is important to make sure our outreach is constantly improving. These two polls show a growth in reader engagement, from 19 votes to 102 votes. As both newspaper and yearbook publications intertwine, we have the common goal of improving our accessibility to make Boone Pubs available to all.
Another platform we have tried to make increasingly accessible is Facebook. On March 14, a month after the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., Boone students and faculty orchestrated a walkout to stand in solidarity. I decided that live streaming the event would provide extensive coverage to Boone alumni, parents and students that did not participate in the walkout. It was important that we announced the live stream on Facebook prior to the event, so that followers could prepare to watch it. Live streaming was unfamiliar to me, but by the end of the day, there were over 3,000 views of the live stream. This is a great tool for future broadcasting to create interactivity through social media. Click here to watch the live stream of the walkout.
